A student of mine introduced me to South Korean singer-songwriter “IU” about a year ago but I hadn’t properly listened to her songs until recently.
I really enjoyed watching this live performance of her song “Love Poem” and think it’s a great example of her artistic and technical skills as a singer.
In this video I’m sharing…
- The difference between a diffused vocal sound and a solid one
- My thoughts on IU’s technical skills as a singer in this particular performance
- The importance of creating ‘backspace’
- What I believe truly makes a singer powerful.
I’d love for you to check it out and let me know what you think of her performance.

As always, I’d love to hear from you!
In the comments, do let me know what you think of IU’s vocal performance here and if there are any songs you’d like me to review for future videos.
