How do you get from where you are now, to where you want to be with your voice?
You, my friend, are underestimating what you can do with your voice!
In my 12+ years of vocal coaching (omg, has it been 12 years already??), I can say will full certainty that if you have a voice, you CAN learn to sing AND be pretty darn good at it too!
In this blog, I’m sharing 4 key points you should know to make the process of learning to sing easier and more effective so that you don’t get STUCK the way I did.
Plus I’m sharing the four stages of your vocal journey to give you a roadmap that’ll help you navigate the path to your vocal freedom and confidence.
Let’s dive in!
Firstly, WHO is this blog for?
– You don’t think you sing well (but really want to!)…
– You don’t think of yourself as a singer, but something in you is drawn to the idea of voice lessons…
– You want to use your voice with more confidence and intention and you don’t know where to begin…
If this sounds like you, then you’re in the right place!
So, what do you need to know about the PROCESS of learning to sing that’ll make it easier?
Here are 4 key points about learning to sing that you should know:

1. It doesn’t end.
2. The journey isn’t a straightforward path.
3. Every voice is unique, which means every journey is unique.
4. It’s not about perfection.
What does this mean?
The process of learning to sing is a non-linear journey that will have its ups and downs…
It’s also a journey of personal discovery. Sometimes we have some setbacks, but that doesn’t mean you’ve done something wrong. If we let ourselves get consumed by setbacks (which we all have), we’re making the journey harder on ourselves.
As long as you keep moving forward with your practices and trainings, you will keep experiencing wins and moving closer to your goals.

So how do we even know if we’re moving in the right direction?
Here at the Online Vocal Academy, we teach our students that there are four stages to this journey.
1. Learn to Listen
2. Practice with Intention
3. Internalise New Habits
4. Get Creative!
What Does This Mean?
Learning to sing is an ongoing journey that evolves and gets better the longer you stay on the path.
You don’t just go through the stages just once either.
In fact, you move through these stages of your journey in CYCLES.
